The Do Lectures

The Do Lectures

The Do Lectures were created to inspire others to 'do' something with their lives.
We had to design 3 completely different book covers and content pages using one typeface, one colour, and no images. We were allowed to use geometrical shapes.

Website...?

Wednesday 27 October 2010

and this was the chosen logo for the app...

These are the layouts for the ipad application i've been working on.
the icons on the right hand side of the page are there in order to scroll through each feature without having to go back to the main page.

the recipe layout is based on whats in the fridge, you can select a shelf, and based on what's on that shelf it will suggest recipes. This recipe reflects what's on the 3rd shelf, which is the shelf with the food closest to going out of date. So food will never be wasted again... if you have an ipad... which is a waste of money in itself.

ipad app

First brief of second year - creating an app for the ipad.

We have chosen a fridge application that will allow people to scan their shopping in, and have access to see what's in their fridge wherever they are, allowing them to plan meals ahead.

These are some test icons that will show up on the application menu.

This was a logo i did for designcrowd.

It's a home for women recovering from drug and alcohol abuse.

They wanted a logo which incorporated a woman with wings, or a butterfly. I chose a butterfly because a woman with wings could be mistaken for a fairy, which would give false ideas and expectations to women about how quickly they could recover. Fairies being of a magical nature.

Butterflies however, give hope and show development and growth. I painted it with watercolours and then added the type.

Add Some Music To Your Day

Saw this on thedieline.com
Packaging for an album, never listened to the music, but I will have a gander for sure based on this genius idea! Really quirky and fun, the music is all held on a memory stick hidden inside a pill. I also really like how it 'cures anything'. Some nice touches added to it :-)

More photos...

Book Project

Right, if you've read the post 'memories' this will make more sense.
My memory had a theme of History repeating itself. Victoria and I had been playing on the swing, only to find photos inside the caravan of other girls from years ago using it.

My past is rather similar to my mum's. We both did ballet, went to Falmouth college to do Graphic Design etc.
This is a scrapbook, a collection of memories. many of the memories were printed onto tracing paper, and underneath are memories of my mum's. They are not completely visible, but if you look in the right places you can see them. It's a sneak-peak into my mum's past if you like.

You can notice things like... in the photo of me and two other girls doing ballet, underneath is a photo of my mum doing ballet (you can see her, and others on stage... mostly through our ballet skirts!) it has a rather nice effect.

As for the florals, there is no explanation as to why I used them. I just love florals.

It's been a while...

Been focusing on my book project, so been a little too busy to update my blog.
However, I am importing the photos of my book NOW.

so they'll be up in a few :-)
(as well as an explanation of the concept)

Memories

Next project has started, and it's based on memories.
I had to double check with my older brother to make sure it was actually real and not just one of my dreams I confuse with reality.

My memory is from when I was about 9 or 10, and my best friend had come to stay in our boring little village. However, we always made the most of it even if it meant dressing up as witches in the middle of Easter and prancing round the graveyard.
We took a little adventure into the fields, and found an old barn. The barn was pretty boring, but behind it was an old rusty crusty caravan, surrounded by nettles and a big tree with a swing attached.
We had a play on the swing and debated whether or not we could dare go inside the caravan, I'm glad we did... We found old photographs of a family, and specifically a couple of young girls playing on the swing. Old diaries, and books, and horse riding equipment along with a oil pastel drawing of a horse. Pretty creepy huh?

Visuals will hopefully be appearing soon!

New Camera

Yes, this is where I live.

Yesterday was a beautiful day so Mike and I went on a little stroll to the beach, followed by an unexpected adventure through the jungle...
But here are just a couple of examples of why I'm so lucky to live in Falmouth :-)

This will be continued a few times i'm guessing.

But next is the coupons that will be featured in the goody bag.

I'm happy with them, my tutor was not.
